Brooklyn and Nicola Peltz Beckham Take on the Internet’s Favorite Challenge: Cake or Fake?

Brooklyn and Nicola Peltz Beckham are just the latest people to participate in the TikTok-turned-Netflix-show trend: Is it a real life object, or is it cake? Objects that are testing—and occasionally tricking—their eyes today? Pancakes, a burger, a cherry pie, and more. (Lucky Brooklyn is on tasting duty since Nicola is dairy-free.) To be fair, the odds were stacked against them: the uncanny creations were crafted by Flour Shop founder—and Met Gala pastry chef—Amirah Kassem. Her cookbook, The Power of Sprinkles, showed her absolute mastery of hyperrealistic recipes, including a Chinese takeout container, avocado toast, a bowl of Lucky Charms, and a bucket of popcorn.

Although, as the couple admits, they've had some practice at this game: on their wedding day, some of their extravagant tiered cake was actually made of cardboard for support reasons. “They didn’t tell us what one was what,” Brooklyn says. “We were trying to cut the cardboard—like sawing it in half!”

Was Brooklyn right about the sundae being cake—or was it really a fake? Watch to find out.
